Get creative, get inspired and get going!!
The idea here is to have things that sustain growth, this can be anything you want such as: tai chi, meditation, yoga (if you’re into that sort of thing), books, journaling to vitamins or even candy mmm. It’s really up to you and what helps you. By having tools like a hot cup of relaxing tea I can feel a hard day melt away while also tending to my body. This can be very beneficial in maintaining positivity so remember to take care of yourself and of course treat yourself every now and then!
My recovery continues to evolve and the tools I keep at hand along with it. An open mind is pivotal for my growth. With a lot of trial and error, I have built a solid foundation on which my new life securely stands. Even with a good foundation, every now and then I let my frustrations overwhelm me and revert back to that old mindset of force it till it works… or breaks. It’s like trying to build a structure with my bare hands, needless to say this becomes pretty painful and It doesn’t take long before I’m cursing myself for not using the tools I picked up along the way. As one of my supervisors used to say, when I would struggling instead of grabbing a proper tool, “Nick you’re just spinning your wheels”.
Everything changes and there are so many profoundly powerful lessons to learn in this life, so please try not to assume your way is the only way. This stubborn frame of mind is counter productive and will only stunt your growth. With that said get to building!!! Find what works for you, to each their own!
“The universe is infinite, your mind is limitless and our souls crave nourishment.”
Books!!
I love to read and learn new things, my soul craves books! I read as much as possible. “Mmm tasty pages.” There’s nothing like curling up into a blanket burrito and letting my brain munch on some yummy books. Some of these I have read and some were referred by sober brothers and sisters I have met on this journey. My goal is to help as many people as I can, to stir your passion and to inspire you. I hope you find something that truly feeds your mind and soul.

Care for a spot of Tea?
I drank a shit ton of tea early on in recovery, and while I have slowed down I still enjoy trying new ones. My favorites are ones with lavender and chamomile because they’re delicious duh! No but really they taste great together and lavender has alot of antioxidants which to put it simply shut down free radicals by inhibiting oxidation. Lavender tea isn’t just good for you it can reduce anxiety and calm the digestive problems that accompany stress. While chamomile is a relaxing way to help you sleep it’s also a mild treatment for fevers, colds, stomach ailments, and has an anti-inflammatory bonus! Look into detox teas these were key when I got sober because of how toxic my body was and how much alcohol I consumed. “along with the unhealthy foods I craved while drinking.” They help boost and clean out the body and can speed up your withdrawal symptoms.

Trying to quit Cigarettes or Chew?
I chewed Copenhagen for almost ten years YUCK! Honestly it wasn’t gross to me at the time but it was disgusting to everyone else! Lets face it cigarettes and chew are extremely damaging to your body. My stomach hurt constantly and towards the end of my cancer can days I felt sick all the time. My teeth were nasty and yeah cancer is scary… No thank you! The coffee pouches were a great way for me to replace the dip in my lip and helped take away those cravings! Plus coffee feeds my soul! The vape pens come in many flavors and have different herbs in them depending on what you’re into.
